The Dossin Museum in Detroit, MI was the site of the first meeting to organize Bicentennial of the War of 1812 Celebrations.

The upshot of the meeting was to formally endorse (www.visit1812.com) the website linking state's activities, sharing plans, sharing the draft for states to enact legislation, creating networking opportunities, sharing the history of our unique states and places, and the optional tour of historic battlefields in Michigan and Ohio.

The Great Lakes Commission on Celebrating the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 was attended by representatives from Canada and 11 States of the USA, hereditary societies, National Park Service employees, Historic Site and Museum Directors, History Professors, and Government Representatives.

In addition to the June 18, 2010 meeting, more are being planned.

Wisconsin U.S.D. 1812, and Michigan U.S.D. 1812 attended, as well as men's society representative Allan Treppa.
